Platform 9.8 is my submission to the 2018 GMTK GameJam. It is a platformer without gravity. It is a prototype more than an actual game, but still rather enjoyable, and I spent enough time on it that I thought I would share it.

Look-direction is controlled by the arrow keys, jump with 'c', grapple with 'x', and pull with 'z' (while grappled). The character is orange, the goal blue. Red will kill you.

This is the first fully fledged game I've made, so let me know what you think.

Some good bones you've got here! I think the mechanics feel a little off I'm not sure why. I was expecting to be able to at least walk back and forth (because I thought the only thing missing was gravity) and also I thought the 'c' jump action was weird, it felt like just a fast version of 'z' pull. Keep working on it!

Yeah, I wanted to get to ground movement, but I couldn't figure out quite how to integrate it with the floating bits. The 'z' was kind of a last minute change because playtesters (mostly me) kept getting stuck in mid air, and it wasn't a very enjoyable fail-state. The jump made more sense when there wasn't as much to grab, but I didn't want players floating off. I think the solution would probably be to only allow pulling moveable objects, then once it gets to the player, they can jump to their destination. Thanks for the feedback.
